The Darasbari mosque is one of the two jami mosques found in Gaur. The architecture of this mosque is interesting because it successfully integrates the influences of many of its contemporaries, the most discernible being that of the great Adina mosque in Pandua. This connection is reflected in the Darasbari mosque's simple decoration and the ground plan of the excavated madrasa associated with the mosque.

Rear façade of the Star Mosque 

Built in the Mughal style by Mirza Ghulam in the late 18th century, this mosque was originally a simple rectangular mosque, measuring 33' x 11' with three doorways on the east façade (main façade) and one on the north wall and another on the south wall. Three domes crowned the mosque, the central one being the larger. Towers accented the corners and the façades displayed plastered panel decoration.

The mosque located about 2,152 feet southeast of the great Shait Gumbad mosque, measures 40' - 9". This square single domed structure boasts 7' thick walls and has four rounded corner turrets with five bands of brick moldings. The cornices on all four sides gently curve, typical of the style locally known as the Khan Jahani style. On the eastern façade there are three arched entrances within a rectangular frame while the north and south walls are pierced with single entrance doorways. The central mihrab on the west wall, framed within a rectangular brick molding, is sparely decorated with terracotta rosettes and foliate motif.

Shah Muhammad Mosque is situated at Egarasindhur under Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj district, less than half a kilometre to the east of the Sadi Mosque (1652). The mosque is now in a better state of preservation due to a series of repair works by the successive Departments of Indian, Pakistan and Bangladesh Archaeology.

This mosque, situated on the right bank of the Jhelum River, is an excellent example of indigenous wood architecture that draws inspiration from Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic architecture. Constructed by Sultan Sikandar and dedicated to the memory of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamdani, a Muslim saint from Hamadan, Persia, this mosque also serves as a khanqah. In the Ain-i-Akbari of Abul Fazal, there is mention of a saint living in Srinagar and founding this monastery in his name.

The mosque has been raised to the ground and rebuilt three times. Ravaged by fire in 1480, it was reconstructed and expanded by Sultan Hassan Shah. In 1493 it was demolished and rebuilt as a two-story structure. Again in 1731 fire destroyed the mosque; Abul Barkat Khan reconstructed it.

Mosque And Mausoleum From Southeast 

Enclosed within a brick boundary, the mausoleum is part of a complex containing an identical mosque and a ruined brick structure with a sloping roof that served, perhaps, as a gateway or the kitchen. Khan Jahan lived a religious life here from his retirement to his death on 25th October 1459.

Overlooking the beautiful Thakur Dighi (lake), the complex stands on a high embankment made from the excavation material of the Dighi. The square artificial lake was construction by Khan Jahan and has a broad, steep flight of steps leading up to the embankment.

The five-domed Kartalab Khan mosque is comparable to the Khan Mirdha mosque. It is located in Begum bazaar in old Dhaka and was built by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan alias Kartalab Khan, between 1700 and 1704.

The mosque is two-storeyed, the lower level of the west side is divided into storefronts while the east side has a madrasa at the lower level and the prayer area located on the upper level. Internally the mosque is divided into five bays which are marked on the exterior by corresponding domes and blind kiosks delineating the divide between each bay.

South Elevation 

Built by Mulla Hizabar Akbar Khan, the mosque is located half a mile northeast of Painam village. The Goaldi mosque is a good example of the 'enclosed square type' mosque of Bengal that is distinguished by a cubical prayer chamber with corner towers and entrances on all sides except the qibla wall.

A single dome caps the mosque; engaged ribbed turrets define the four corners; and the cornice is gently sloped. Circular corner towers are a deviation from the usual octagonal corner towers. This is the only example of circular corner towers in the Dhaka district. Accentuating the cornice is a row of small niches with floral motifs inside.

Gaur surlarının Güneyinde Dhunichak Camii'nin kalıntıları vardır. Caminin sadece batı ve kuzey duvarları ayakta kalmıştır. Cami, adını bulunduğu yöreden almıştır. Ne zaman yapıldığı kesin olarak belli olmamakla beraber, mimari şeklinden dolayı İlyas Şah devrinden kalma olduğu tahmin edilmektedir.

North façade

South of the walled city of Gaur are the ruins of Dhunichak mosque. Only the west and north wall remain standing with only the foundations left of the east and south walls. The mosque derives its name from its locality which was inhabited by dhanchak (cotton carders), hence Dhanchak or Dhunichak masjid. Stylistically the mosque belongs to the Ilyas Shahi period though no inscription has been found to substantiate this.

  West façade

The mosque is of brick and measures 44'-8" x 29'-2" with 5'-6" thick walls. The interior was divided by basalt pillars into two aisles of three bays each corresponding to the three entrance archways. The west wall has carved brick designs interspersed with exquisitely carved stone pilasters of Hindu workmanship and three richly ornamented mihrabs with floral and geometric patterns, the central one being most prominent. The mihrabs are encapsulated within rectangular frames that are bordered with bands of molding and creeper/arabesque motifs. The spandrels over the cusped arches are beautifully decorated with terra cotta tree motifs intertwined with terra cotta rosettes within its branches.

Bu cami, Babür İmparatorluğundan önce Dakka'da yapılan en eski camidir. Kitabesinden öğrenildiğine göre, 1454 yılında Sultan I. Mahmut Şah zamanında Marhamat Kızı Bakht Binat tarafından inşa edilmiştir.

Sekizgen köşeli sütunların üzerine tek kubbe oturtulmuştur.

Camiye, doğu, kuzey ve güney olmak üzere 3 kemerli kapıdan girilmektedir. Cami, içerden 12 metrekare büyüklüğündedir.

Yakın zamanda yapılan tadilatta, güneyine kubbeli bir mescid eklenmiştir.

This pre-Mughal building is the oldest mosque built in Dhaka. According to an inscription, Bakht Binat, daughter of Marhamat, built it in 1454 during the rule of Sultan Mahmud Shah I.
